Had the pleasure of being at the range for 12hrs yesterday with Gibbo....

He said that he wanted to start from scratch and didn't just want to patch up his swing. We talked about impact, the grip, the posture, the backswing, spine tilt, hip bump, hands forward, shoulder rotation, lots of things actually....

then he got the shanks.

He hit 400 balls with a combination of shanks, fats and the occasional good one. The frustration must have been huge for him but he kept going and kept going, a proper hero.

On the way home he probably thought he didn't get much out of his day.... I know it must've been hard for him so I thought I'd post just this one pic for him..... so he could see WHY he was having such a struggle...... I'm sure most of us would struggle making this much change...

spot the one that looks like a pro.....

You did great Gibbo. Not many people could get the club head on the ball when you do this to their set up :D I hope you take some of the things with you, even if you go back to you're 'normal' way of swinging I expect you'll incorporate some little changes here and there.

that is some difference alright. fair play to both of yous for working hard at it. im sure there was a lot of fun bits too as well as hard moments.

I know gibbo was one of the lucky ones to get custom fit through the bag from TM. was there any lie angle issue with the irons when he changed from his old to new set up?

Was his shoulders aiming left before the change?

If so how did you correct it as I suffer with shoulders pointing left with the driver...

Thanks James for destroying my body, I am aching all over today. I had an awesome time despite the massive frustrations at times, it was hard work and by the end f the day I was shattered, was almost gonna pull over on the m25 and have a kip lol.

I will be working on the swing over he next few weeks, I have a sneaky feeling it was just a case of too much change at once for my old body to get used to, but over tie I reckon I can ingrain a fair bit of it so hopefully by Woburn my game may be on the up (we shall see).

I felt sorry for James at times, although I did make him chuckle when trying to get my butt stuck out more... lets just say my co-ordination was a bit off haha

posture does look decent in that pic, almost golfer like ;)

The best thing was I now have some positions and a routine at setup to work with as opposed to address the ball and smash it and hope for the best.

Oh and James was nailing everything and driving over the fence on the range with several carrying at least 270+ with range balls!

now to rest up a bit more, I don't think I can manage a swing for at least a couple of days

Notwithstanding the compression of the left pic, the right one is definitely better. Is balance a bit too far forward - onto toes?

possibly as that was something I was getting, its just a case of practising in front of a mirror and feeling the position. It felt strange after spending the last 3 years playing so upright :)

I will be buying a camera this week and send/posting vids as it is ongoing for James' feedback/forum critique

Is it just my computer, or is the photo on the left is compressed horizontally 4times? No wonder he looks so cramped !

For some reason media player classic is messing up the vids from my video camera, believe me when I say that it ended up a lot better than it started though. If you ignore the pic on the left, the pic on the right alone should give him confidence that the posture (although it must've felt really weird to him) is spot on.... and he's gotta learn that 'bendy-over thing' that he struggled with , regardless of how silly he felt sticking his butt out.

Fair play to you for sticking at it all day when it sounds like it was really tough going.

My last lesson my pro had me changing my stance, lower body stability and my downswing and that was tough and i hit more bad shots than good but the good shots were worth the bad shots i hit.
