Well, played in our 'Turkey Trot' today which was a Texas Scramble format so always difficult to truly reflect on how well one has played, however, I feel the need to share one particular hole with the forum......... :)

We started on the 5th hole so we'd already played 14 holes by the time we played the 1st.

Our 1st is 274 yards (yellow tee) and is a slight dog leg right. The green is hidden by a large bank that runs down the right of the hole - further obscured by large trees that grow on top of the bank.

I hit a cracking Driver which had a lovely shape of left to right. I had a feeling it would be near the green but, due to the recent wet weather, it'd get no roll.

How wrong I was!!!

The ball was 12" from the flag!!!

I then rolled in the eagle putt.

So, almost my first hole in one - and on a par 4!!!

We finished 4 under par and nowhere near the prizes......... ;)

if u could hit it 300 yards like everyone else here . . . .

Then he'd have been 26 yards away instead!

See its not always great being a big hitter! :D

On another note, does it sound better being 12" away instead of being 1 foot away?

Joking aside that hole is made for you. You rarely lose a ball to the left so it's a stock fade at the green every time. Can't see the value in laying up there unless you have a tendency to hook it. Even where I went in that left greenside bunker isn't too bad.

How was the rest of your round?
