will i ever get over it ??

Played this morning......triple figures just seems to be haunting me!!

Was playing ok, 46 shots front 9 then…... out of bounds off the tee on 3 different holes on back 9, then an unplayable (thus a drop!!), then one approach ended behind a tree meaning I had to chip out sideways and to top it off I managed to practically take 3 air shots….. meant I finished with 100 – and this is before I recap on the duffed chips, lipped putts etc etc……

Will I ever get over it ????

I keep telling myself i am getting better !!!!

Have you had any lessons? From experience I would recommend a few, and above all enjoy the game. You will get better, but golf can be frustrating at times.

I'm in the same boat mate, just joined a new club and have yet to shoot 100. Had a nightmare yesterday with the driver and with hybrids off the fairway, so I tried a new strategy during a practice round today - no driver and nothing longer than a 5 iron off the fairway. I hit nearly everything straight and didn't lose a ball but was always struggling for distance, so where I saved shots by being straight I lost out by having to take extra shots. Combine this with an unusually bad day with the putter and I failed again to break the barrier.

I am exactly the same as you mate - I just have blow up holes... If I go by matchplay/stableford I am performing well but for strokeplay I just have a lapse. I have had my highest score in ages today but I have also played shots I never could of up until now.

It will come mate - that's what I'm telling myself anyway.

It says in your sig you have a handicap of 19 how is that possible if you haven't got through the 100 barrier

Good question...???

Whilst were on the subject of what your profile states...Is that really you aswell Chris??? :o

I've had a few lessons guys..... problem is i can do it.... my club is a 9 hole ...... i have parred all the holes, just not at the same time.... I have broken 100 once and been there or thereabouts on many times..... think i may start getting the others to score see if it takes my mind off it!!!

Played in a charity stableford the other week (off 19) and only failed to score on 2 holes, thus never actually recorded my full score, i had 86 with 2 NR's...... its in there somewhere !!!!

The reason i got the 19 handicap was that i only joined up this year, 19 is my first handicap and again like i said above, looking at the cards i submitted i have done ok on all the holes....... think i need to get in some comps quick to make it more realistic!!!

You are clearly keeping too close an eye on your score and worrying about it too much on the closing holes. Why are you hitting the bad shots? Are you trying too hard especially off the tee and swinging too hard and too fast and therefore going OB. I think you need to go back over the last few rounds and look at which holes you made the mistakes on and see if there is a pattern emerging and develop a better course management strategy for playing them. That and give the card to someone else and don't woory about what you are scoring until the end
