The old Mastercard took one helluva battering at the weekend.

I thought I'd treat myself so I went to the Ping fitting centre at St.Andrews on Saturday.

On Sunday I ordered a G10 driver and 4 wood, a set of S58 irons and 3 wedges (52,56 and 60 degree).

I'm thinking of getting a putter too but haven't chosen one.

Has anyone ever been custom fitted for a putter and is it worth doing so?

Custokm fitting for a putter is worth while. check out the YES Putter website its got some good info on there to show you what putter suites most styles.

I saw a self-fitting custom ping putter thing at my range.

You set up to it and move the shaft up or down 'till it feels right (ooh, er, missus!) then adjust the angle of the head.

When I felt most comfy I discovered it was the same length and lie of my current putter.....odd that!!!!

Like saying "sir, this BMW comes with a custom fitted seat".....99% sure you'll put it in exactly the same place as the last 100k miles.

Silly sods!!

yes, i was fitted for my putter - also a Ping - by my pro.
he watched a few puts to see my putting stroke, which determines face or heel balance. length is highly individual - I had mine shortened (and the Karsten grip replaced) because I like it this way.
don't know about any others but with Ping you can't alter the lie

That seems quite a good deal!? What did you pay for the irons and wedges?

How I wish I could go out and spend some cash on golf gear!

I'm desperate for a new golf bag, 5-Wood and Putter.

Oh well, going to have to keep saving.
