A few weeks ago a guy posted on here about a £9.99 golf break. It was two rounds of golf and a night in the lodge on the course. I decided to give it a go although I'm usually the sort of bloke who thinks "if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is".

The location was a course called Belmont lodge, just outside Hereford. Four of us went up tuesday morning ready for a 12 o'clock tee off. To be honest we were expecting there to be some sort of catch, I was thinking that maybe the back nine would be waterlogged and unplayable because of recent weather and the fact that its called the "river" nine!

When we arrived we were greeted by very friendly staff which continued to be the case for the rest of our stay. We had about an hour before tee off so we made use of the good quality putting green and chipping/pitching area. We made our way to the first tee and got under way.

The whole course was in good condition and we couldn't really get our heads around how it was only £9.99. The front nine was pretty hilly and the back nine a lot flatter and runs along the river. There wasn't any waterlogged areas and the greens were in great condition. There was good mix of holes and it was a good test of golfing ability. We finished off the round with a couple of pints and a look at the scorecards in the clubhouse. There was a bit of banter as we were having a two day comp. as well as nearest the pin and longest drive.

We then went to our rooms in the lodge just across the car park. We were happy with the rooms, I'd say they were the same standard as your usual travel inn. We went in to Hereford for a bit of dinner although they were doing food in the clubhouse for real good value, they just didn't have the football on!

We tee'd off the next day at 11:24 but we were up early to have a breakfast in the clubhouse and a few putting, pitching and chipping games on the practice areas. We were asked half way round if we'd like tee or coffee by a top fella who was in the pro shop. We spoke to him when we finished and he told us about a few more deals they are doing through the summer, then we finished off our trip with a beer and sandwhich in the clubhouse.

Whilst driving home the conversation was mostly about how lucky we felt we had been to get what we had for £9.99! We said that we'd gladly have paid £100 for our stay and we were so impressed with how friendly the place was and the condition of the course.

I would definitely recommend a trip to Belmont lodge and I know for certain that I will be revisiting and taking advantage of the great offers they are doing through the summer.

£9.99! I still can't get my head round it! :D

If nothing else this sort of promotion means good publicity when people see how good something is & word of mouth is king.

I did swing by there on a whim whilst coming home with the Mrs, & unfortunatly they were booked up fully that night as there was a wedding on, but promissed myself I would try the course out when I had the chance. Wish I'd been quick enough to book at the price I saw, though sure a reasonable enough deal will come up through the year, especially as we all need to watch finances a bit more these days.

The offer is over but I think they are doing two rounds, bed & breakfst for £36? They are also doing a deal where you can play sunday afternoon, stay the night, have breakfast and play on the monday, all for £30, and that offer is on all summer long!
