£40 lesson deal at Trump Turnberry

Got a voucher for this and went along today.

Really nice teaching set up with cameras etc. Turnberry is in a complete state due to renovations, but I'm sure Donny boy knows what he is doing.

As for the lesson, it looks like my overswing is back. Oh goody. Young pro there worked for an hour on getting it shortened. I thanked him by hitting 30 shanks towards the Kintyre course.

Got a bacon roll and tea as part of the deal. The bacon could have swung better than me.

Then, included, was 9 holes on the wee Arran course. Full of par 3s and a couple of par 4s, it was a nice wee stroll. Played very well actually, made good contact and my pull hook had gone.

Headed home and was locked out so headed to the range to see if I could groove in my shortened swing, confident following a decent hit.

30 more shanks later, I went home in disgust.

I have hit 200 in one day.

I hit 80 out of 100 two weeks ago. I was swaying in the back swing.

Sounded a good deal. I fancy playing Turnberry this year.

My shanking record is 20 balls to warm up before my lesson. All fine, little pushed. An hours lessons of 3 shanks followed by 1 decent hit. Think the pro was dismayed. Then went to the range to promptly shank a full basket of 50 balls.

Agree with 'V' about the current state of Turnberry, was down there last Monday as they were demolishing the short game area. Cracking deal at £40 big fella, shame about the 'you know whats'. Heading back down this Thursday after being blown off the course last week after 2 holes and the staff were great in offering a return at no extra cost. Get those shanks sorted big guy.

Know so well how you feel Dave,just got to work your way through it(it's also a hell of a mental problem)!!
So much so that I have gone back to a previous set of Titleist DCI 861s to try and help the mental demons.

I have this affliction too sometimes. I have been told the shank is a millimetre away from the perfect strike. However whenever I execute one that information is cold comfort - as as a possible up and down often becomes 4 more from 30 yards :angry:
