Should I get cheaper new ones or second hand good ones.I'm sight impaired (almost blind) so need the woods to have some forgiveness if I don't get a perfect contact.some help will be nice they need to be good because I'm going to play in the blind British open with them☺
Thanks

In terms of Fairway Woods, I'd definitely go with the Callaway XR. Absolutely love mine, it's a rocket launcher. Should be able to pick one up for about £100 easily.

I would certainly go with better 2nd hand ones if you can find something that suits you. People change clubs far too often believing they are buying something better just because it is the latest model and they offload some very good clubs as a result.

If you pm me your address I've got a Titleist 913fd 5 wood your welcome to have, saves a bit of money for you

I personally think it's far better value to go for good second hand clubs than new models, if you're on a budget. A two or three year old club with a couple of scuff marks that goes for £100 will often be a far better club than a brand new club that only costs £100. (Just using 100 as an example)

Good luck in the open.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you play blind golf- does someone line you up to the ball and align you to target?

Hats off to you sir...a hard enough game with full sight

Woods are normally available used for a very good price. I have Cobra Baffler XLs which came out about 3 or 4 years ago. They have rails under the sole (a concept which Cobra now has reintroduced for the current F7s). The rails give very good forgiveness on slightly heavy shots or shots from bad lies, because they help the clubhead to glide over the ground a bit better. Maybe that is something to look out for (the normal Baffler line and the Ballfer T-Rails, which came out before the XL have the rails as well, I have not tried those, but assume that they are similarily forgiving).

One of my mates is partially sighted who I play with and he's fine over the ball, just needs his ball spotting once he's hit it.

One thing he has brought up at our club is the flags. Ours are half black half white and he really struggles to pick the flag out because of this.
