As I stated above. From what I have seen most PGA pros are trying to teach one-set swing and this does not work. Far from it, it can hinder a golfer.
You would'nt teach Furyk swing and Jon Rham's coach was sensible enough not to try and change certain aspects of his swing. My belief is that...
Tommy, what you have come across is, unfortunately, normal today. It is not about teaching the player how to swing but rather teaching the swing to the player. Yes there are some basics that have stood the test of time but as all great coaches say with these there is always room for adaptation...
From what I have heard PGA pros teaching at the ranges, it is very much hood the club face going back and then on the down swing turn hard left, which is the only way you can square the club face.
Whilst this seems logical, the amount of players I have seen that have had pretty consistent...
Once I started focusing on the basics of the swing etc it came pretty quick. Don't get me wrong I am not stripping it out of the middle every time but my dispersion is pretty good with my irons both front to back and left to right.
I would 100% recommend Nick Faldos book, although it does not...
I had lessons when I first started but after 6 lessons I stopped. I didn't really receive any advice as to how to build a repeatable swing. So I pretty much just started watching Tour pros and tried to copy them (no it didn't make me a tour player). Eventually, I bought "A swing for Life" by...
Trackman was normalised for wind (I am told that this effectively removes the wind factor).
Everything else regarding direction of flight etc was spot on but distance on the monitor was out. For example I hit a shot with a PW that carried over the 100yd marker (yes I know im a short hitter)...
I have just moved to just outside Edinburgh and went to the top tracer range near by.
How accurate is the data from Top Tracer as it appears that I have lost 10-15yards per club compared to the trackman range I was going to previously.
For example my driver ball speed was 135mph but the carry...
Like all of the other replies, I am not expert. I had a similar issue to you in that I took the club back too far inside and as a result I came over the top.
Try taking the club back so that when it reaches parallel to the ground it is in line with your toe line. Also your clubface looks very...
Hi with regards to first putt distance this is paced and GPS (no idea why I do both).
So based on the strokes gained on a 9 hole distance would put me at around scratch? I havent held a handicap for several years.
I know I am short on distance off the tee and this leads to some long irons into...
Hi with the driver I struggle to draw it but fade pretty much fade on request.
Irons are different I can shape a subtle draw but am pretty accurate with a fade.
I know that I am very short off the tee and only decided to compare my stats to a tour pro for a laugh
I have just started to track my strokes gained stats and to be honest I am somewhat confused.
These are my stats;
Short Game -0.94
F/W hit 3 out of 7 the other 4 just run through the f/w with and average driving distance of 228yds
Hi, the difference in loft is 4 degrees, driver being 9.
The driver is 45inches and the 3 wood is around 42/43.
Im not so worried about the distance, just confused as to why the swing speeds are roughly the same give or take 1-2mph.
I had my swing speed measured. For my driver I am swinging at 90mph, however, this is with a graphite shafted driver. What is really confusing is that I am swinging my steel-shafted 3 wood at 89 mph.
I am really confused and now thinking of trying to find a steel-shafted driver and...
My local range uses trackman. I'm told that they have normalised it for wind etc.
I'm not sure how this works as surely trackman tracks the launch conditions which will be affected by head winds, side winds etc.
thanks for the replies guy.
I am 47 and stopped playing for about 5 years.
The irons I use are cobra MB 8iron is 38 degrees. swing speed is around 75-80mph (I know, its very slow)
I alternate between my Titleist 975d and the TS4 (stats don't change that much) Swing speed between 95-102mph...
Please excuse my dumb questions.
I have come back to golf after a long layoff and have really lost distance with all of my clubs.
My 8iron figures are as follows
Launch Angle 30ish
Ball speed 90mph (i think)
Launch angle 17
Ball speed 135mph
