    Energy company gone bust

Another Avro casualty here. We've been switched to Octopus same as. Had introductory email. They reckon they're fair and are say they're giving ex Avro customers a lower deal than their current customers. Well recommenced by Which too. Will wait for now and see what happens when the dust settles.

Flags when you're on the green - still permanently in or back to how things were?

Folks, extraordinary discussion here on the deep feelings seemingly held over the pros or cons of pins in or out when on the greens. There really is no right or wrong here. No one is right or wrong 😑 Really. Honestly. Trust me. Imagine the question was: How do you prefer your steak cooked...

Flags when you're on the green - still permanently in or back to how things were?

Interesting replies that go to show we’re all different on this, as indeed we are on most things. And of course, there’s no right or no wrong here. Purely a matter of personal preference. My own preference? Pin out on the shorties all day long.

I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

A bit healthier temperature out there today and played in our normal group swindle. Got a great putting tip from a guy that returned to the club after leaving for three years who played with us. I feel like buying him a year's supply of beer. Pointed out the source of my recent putting woes...

Flags when you're on the green - still permanently in or back to how things were?

When the rule changed originally a few years back, and you could leave the pin in if you wished, a top Pro did a lot of research on what gave the best odds of the putt staying holed with the pin in or out. Someone called Bryson DeChambeau in fact (quelle surprise), and if I remember correctly...

Flags when you're on the green - still permanently in or back to how things were?

Yeah, many in our group see it the same way. I thought I was used to it at first but my short putting stated to decline. Eventually I put it down to the pin being in. The longer it went on I steadily grew to hate it. Particularly with the bit of foam just below the rim during the Covid regs...

Flags when you're on the green - still permanently in or back to how things were?

Setting aside the actual issue of Covid transmission itself. We are now able to revert to the way things used to be. So, are you keeping the flags in still, or are tending / removing. Personally I grew to hate making short putts with the pin in, and in the two rounds I've had since Monday I...

    Flags and Rakes

Yeah, we're one of the few. I have not seen it anywhere else. We've all been carrying these fellers during the Covid measures. Here you go. They’re pretty crap as they aren’t long enough actually. You end up having to touch the rake lower further down the handle to balance it when carrying and...

    Flags and Rakes

Our place today was rakes back in play and grabbable, but unlike most clubs we kept them in play throughout this last year anyway. We had to buy a personal sleeve to fit over the rake handle or a rake head attachment for a club. Most visitors were very surprised to find we weren't doing 6-inches...

    Gambling on the course 2.0

We are two quid in each and divvy up the pot, normally paying two places. Preferred formant is pairs better ball, then 4 or 3-man teams (playing the waltz, or 3/2 to count from 3 or 4, or whatever the number of players allows really.) Occasionally an individual stableford, though rarely. But...

HELP! I’ve developed The Yips out of nowhere

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have, I think I've got it sussed. I was quitting at impact as a result of turning my right hand over and dragging everything, or else simply not making a stroke at all. I played on Friday and concentrated on making a 'straight' and complete follow through and...

HELP! I’ve developed The Yips out of nowhere

Have thought about it but feels kinda awkward. Might practice it and see if I can get it to feel more natural.

HELP! I’ve developed The Yips out of nowhere

I’m sure I can beat this, because during the 3rd year of playing seriously, or as seriously as I can manage, I contracted, but ultimately overcame after 6 months, what seemed an almost career-ending case of the shanks. Both have/had the same thing in common. Head issues. Like so many of golf’s...

Cheers Crow. I think that would do me no harm at all.

HELP! I’ve developed The Yips out of nowhere

Spooky, as I can make a much better stroke with the back of my Spider on the short ones. So much so that I have been thinking of out putting a left handed putter in the bag.

Seeing that written down makes perfect sense and is hard to argue against. It may have to come to that. :)

HELP! I’ve developed The Yips out of nowhere

The most consistent part of my game has always been putting. On a round in mid-May I had a stinking day with the flat stick. I’ve had them before of course, but this was different. It was as if I had somehow forgotten how to putt. Next round even worse and so began the downward spiral to...

Seniors’ match today in the glorious sunshine. We ran out winners 5.5 v 2.5 and played well. Putting woes banished after a torrid 6 weeks, during which I had somehow an inexplicably developed the yips out of nowhere. New Super Stroke grip seems to have done the trick :geek: B
