I tend to agree with you. In my opinion, (depending on weather), the time to commence use of winter tees is when the clocks go back, which this year is on October 26th.
I played today, the day after a big storm, heavy rain and wind. It was still windy, the the wind had dried the course out...
My Driver is my worst club (least reliable) in the bag, I'm pretty sure the 3 wood goes almost as far. I don't think my handicap would change much if I left the driver out.
I would say that The Manor is OK, without being outstanding. If it's a nice day, I would choose Halifax Golf Club at Ogden, for a good walk, outstanding views, and a very good (and demanding) course.
I was told at the weekend that Halifax Bradley Hall is an excellent course, but he was a scratch...
I remember it. The first par 3 (4th hole?) was out of commission for quite a while wasn't it? Lovely course, used to play it frequently when a friend was a member there.
As a lifetime motorcyclist, I am continually appalled at the mindless damage young louts do to golf courses, cricket pitches, football pitches, and playgrounds.
I would definitely phone 999. If I could stop one, I would, side cutters in hand, cut straight through the throttle cable of the...
Interesting thread. I got down to my lowest handicap (8.4) aged 71, having started aged 50. Currently, 11, but at best I could only describe myself as "capable". A 5 handicapper is way better than me.
The comments re the gulf between 5 and scratch, I agree with. As for plus golfers....words fail...
Very interesting thread, and I was astonished that Shipley Northcliffe gets a mention. I would have thought Bingley St Ives and Shipley (Beckfoot) would be on the list.
If I was to recommend a course round Bradford/Leeds, I think it would be Headingley. Don't go to Halifax Ogden with out a...
As I carry at this time of year, I take out the gap wedge, 6 and 4 iron and a 5 wood. In winter that is rarely a problem.
At my old club, we used to run a "three clubs and a putter", contest. The scores were largely similar to a normal Comp.
I feel ever so slightly embarrassed, I think that I have only played one new course this year. Thirsk and Northallerton. I would play it again, an excellent variety of holes.
I have read through all your posts........Dunbar is one of my favourites, but the weather has to be on your side. We...
