I'm not overly bothered by whatever my handicap is tbh. It is whatever it is.
The way it's done just seemed a bit harsh to me.
I know there are guys at the club who are a bit precious about their's that flatly refuse to play in 9 hole comps because of how it impacts their hcp.
Over the past month I haven't had a time for full 18 holes so I've been competing in some 9 hole comps at our club. Due to the way the 9 hole diff is calculated for the second 9 even though when I've been scoring 19 and 20 points for 9 holes my hcp has been going up. Probably gone up 2 shots...
Watched it when I got up this morning.
Actually quite enjoyed it, players came accross as genuine, didn't seem forced. Looked like they were having fun.
Sky coverage was a bit dodgy. Didn't seem to cut away when the US commercials were on.
In all honesty a lot better than I was expecting.
I think shooting par is in range but playing off scratch probably not. I've shot level for 9 a lot, even had a -2 for 9. Think best 18 is about 2 over.
So yeah, shoot level is possible if everything clicks. But don't think I could, or want to, maintain a scratch handicap. But would be nice to...
