We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
Learned long ago that if I stopped enjoying myself then the game would suffer. Yes a bad shot normally results in a "what the F**k" but I try and put it behind me and try and remember how lucky I am to be out as a full member of a lovely course. No point in stewing over a bad shot, it will only...
At my club I had to put in 3 cards and from that they worked out my starting handicap, just did 3 rounds with existing members off the yellows.
How its worked out is explained here:

I've got a Garmin but it has a mind of its own. When it works its great, automatically putting me on the next tee after putting out. This morning it was all over the place, said I was on a hole on the other side of the course. Thought 850 yards seemed long for a par 3.
An interesting question, I practice loads but don't seem to get any better. I've just invested in a series of lessons with my pro and hopefully he can give me a structured practice plan as I believe just whacking balls on the range doesn't really accomplish a lot. I joined my club 2 years ago...
Trying to hit my driver too hard and watch the ball go sailing into the trees down the right hand side. A real issue, if I hold back to get the ball straight distance really suffers :(
I dont know a lot about the Microsoft Band but from the picture on the link it looks like it pairs up with a smart phone, wont that make it illegal in comps?
The longer I've played the less it affects me. A bad hole is part of the game, I learned to accept it now and it has benefited my game. Still proper funny to see someone lose it though, glad it isn't me anymore!
Thanks for all the replies!
Had a lesson today with the club pro on chipping and turns out I have a pretty solid technique. The only thing I've changed is to use the lob wedge instead of the sand iron which keeps me with the three club option. Got some good tips using the lob and very happy...
Wow, didn't expect so many replies so quickly, thanks guys.
Really seems (on replies so far) that its what you seem the most comfortable with, which is pretty understandable.
I just need to make a decision and stick with it I think.
