I recently bought a Sureshot 8800 and I'm very impressed so far. Partners who were a bit dismissive at first are now sidling up and asking for their yardages. (Of course, I add 10 yards ;)). Recommend you have a look at one before committing to anything else. Decent price at Nevada Bobs too £170.

I'm a Footjoy fan, although just bought some Ecco's and they're very comfortable straight out of the box. I did once see some summer weight shoes by Duca del Cosma which looked as comfortable as a pair of slippers but I didn't have the courage to buy them at the time and I haven't seen them...

I'm in the "stand off to one side" when others are putting but if its same line as mine, then I'll always try to have a look at the last few feet where people stand and tend! Would never stand behind an opponent, seems like cheating and must be a distraction for them as well.

I've only been playing just over 2 years and my advice would be to speak to your local Club pro and ask their advice, then stick to that ball for at least a year. In that way, you'll start to develop feel, especially around the green. My personal preference: Srixon AD333, good value too!
