The Old Course is unreal, even if you take away the history side and it’s still a brilliant course.
I’ve played most of the top courses in Scotland and still rank it as my number one.
Unfortunately with green fees to playing the top courses, its supply and demand and the demand is there.
Member of two clubs, one is a heathland course and the other is a parkland course.
The parkland course is approximately a 5-10 min drive, the heathland is a 25 min drive.
If someone is slow, there’s nothing the other 3 can do, it’s obvious to people behind the cause of the slow play.
But it’s a touchy subject bringing it up with people. No one likes to be told they are slow and causing issues within the group.
True it’s his choice, but his slow play not only affects the group behind but also the group he is in.
You need a little bit of consideration for other people.
Just a quick question or even a bit of advice.
We have a member of our 4 ball who’s incredibly slow.
Always lose a hole on the group in front, group behind waits on every shot.
We’ve tried playing faster between the other 3 to make up for how slow he is.
Would you mention to him how slow he is...
The general condition of the course is very poor, weeds all over paths, paths needing repairs.
The greens are poor, the consistency between green to green is poor. Also they look like they have an underlying issue and never to far away from being riddled with disease.
Bunkers are poor, poor sand...
The R&A get every other tee time I think, I would take much notice of the ballot results.
If people drop out or tee times become available, you’ll move up the list and then get a text to say to go to the pavilion ready to play. But you still might not get on.
Good luck 🤞
