The only course I have been asked for a Cert was Vila de Lobo - Ocean last September. The Villamoura - Laguna & Millenium did not ask for Cert. As others have said it may be to stop "hackers" but then they haven't seen me play!!

As Clive says some airlines (e.g. Jet2) have a separate weight allowance / charge for golf clubs/ bags etc. I went to Portugal last year & packed clubs (in cart bag), shoes etc in a Wilson travel bag (with wheels). Used beach towels to cushion everything and bought an extending bar "thing"...

Played Saturday on an almost totally frozen course. One good thing was the imporvement in my driving distances!! On a 450 yard par 5 I almost reached the green thanks to the bounce and run. But the greens were impossible - so I just picked up after the first 5 as it wasn't worth the anguish.
