They were playing Preferred Lies at the Belgian event within a scorecard length.

    Ruling/Spirit of the Game

The Official Guide to the Rules of Golf (page 389) gives guidance to committees around marking areas as GUR. This states that it is not appropriate to make a general declaration for all ruts made by maintenance vehicles to be defined as GUR.Any deep ruts should be marked by the committee using...

    Ricky Fowler -Wrong Drop

Just can't understand why dropping from the knee is causing so many problems. All sports/ jobs have rule/ guideline changes from time to time and players just need to adapt. Can't believe his caddie missed it as well.

Exclusive Forum Giveaway - Win a pair of the NEW FootJoy FURY golf shoes

It is hard to know whether to look towards a course still on the "bucket list" or to look back on a course played. Decided to look back on the gem of North Yorkshire that is Ganton which I was lucky enough to play some years ago From the unassuming turnoff from the main Scarborough road ,you...

    No British Masters for 2019

Great shame that this will be leaving the rota and it looks like the European tours only English event will be at Wentworth with it's new date later in the year. Just a reflection of economic reality for sponsorship of golf in Britain which has been the case for sometime. The top player's now...

    Pros not knowing the rules

This was not the first time that we have seen Pros be penalised for not knowing the rules. It was clear that the Sky commentary team of Mark Roe and Rich Beem did not understand what was going on either .

    Wrong Ball

The player is penalised 2 strokes under Rule 15-2. Decision 15-2/4. When the ball is replaced it is a substitution for the original ball and not a wrong ball. It therefore becomes the ball in play ,but as the substitution was not permitted under the rules the player incurs the above penalty.

If a tree falls and there's no one to hear it.....

    Decision 18-5/ 3 confirms this.

    EGU/County fees

My understanding is that the EGU/County fees are paid by a club to the County Golf Union in one payment. This is based on the number of members on their records. The fees are collected during the course of the year and paid over at the start of the following year.

    Fallen Leaves

Decisions on the Rules of Golf 33-8/31 allows a committee to make a temporary local rule declaring accumulations of leaves through the green at certain holes to be "Ground under Repair". A player would then get relief under Rule 25-1. It must be known or virtually certain that if the ball is not...

    Footjoy 2015 collection

I have always rated Footjoy waterproofs very highly for both quality and performance. Their existing XP Tour jacket also had a RRP of £200. However, this can now be found online for about £150/£160. However, I do agree that the cost of this type of clothing seems to be increasing and like the...

    The Players Championship

It looks like even Mark Roe has had enough of seeing every shot Tiger plays. He just went to the commercial break with the words" We'll be back in a moment with the Tiger Woods Show" !!! Got my own e/w bets on Sergio and Louis Oosthuizen.

    British masters Sky sports Thursday.

Has anyone tried to get the tickets today for Woburn via the Sky website? Have tried a couple of times, but just get a message to say "something has gone wrong please try again". I understand that there is a 2 day priority for Sky subscribers. May be those priority tickets have already gone.

5.5 hours to play The Belfry

It would appear that nothing changes then so far as pace of play at the belfry is concerned. I last played there 15 years ago and our round took 5 hours and 45 minutes! It really was an endurance, with long waits on just about every shot. Thankfully, it was in May so there was sufficient day...
