We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
Why don't you do it yourself ?
Replacing grips is incredibly easy, and there are a lot of instructional videos on the web. You can get the grips for as little as 2£ (Lamkin Crossline) and if you prefer the Golf Pride Decade Multicompound they go for 5£ each.
All you need are the grips...
PPE, I hope you recover soon - and chapeau for finishing the round.
I've had a terrible experience last summer, since I was on the other side: I sliced the tee shot, and hit a lady who was walking on the fairway of an adjacent hole on the chest.
I had yelled 'fore', of course, but that didn't...
I've read both books, and really liked them. He also writes on GD (you know, the US magazine...) and everything he writes really makes sense.
I've learned one of my favourite shots, the cut lob, reading one of those articles. And it works well for me.
The Diamana shafts that come with Nike drivers and woods are substantially different from the ones that are sold as aftermarket components. How would you otherwise explain that a Diamana Blue board costs 300$ alone and the driver with the same shaft goes for 200$ ?
I've gone through the trouble...
I've owned a couple of Ben Hogan Bettinardi (those made in a secret 'X' material that looks like bronze). One has been stolen, the other has a reserved place in my golf bag.
Why not considering a trip to Italy ? ;)
There are many nice courses in Northern Italy (I'd recommend Le Betulle - Biella, which is considered the best course in Italy). I'd be happy to give advice, of course.
Or Austria: I go there every year in the Salzburg area, usually in June, and there...
Correct, NCs play as if they were 36, which is the maximum hcp allowed in Italy. I've found that other countries have different habits/rules: for instance, in Austria men can have up to 46 hcp and women up to 49. I've played in Austria with two ladies, one of which was 49 and the other maybe 47...
We don't have Municipal courses: all courses are private.
As long as you have a handicap, you can play any course - there are usually no restrictions. Of course, members have precedence over externals.
The NC play the maximum hcp allowed in Italy, which is 36.
I *partially* agree with you. After all, this is the reason why we have the lowest golfers/inhabitants ratio after Greece... :D
At the same time, though, we're pretty assured that anyone playing on the course know the rules (unless they started playing before this NA/NC/etc. has been put in...
This is very interesting: so how do you get your hcp in UK? When are you allowed to leave your cage and mat at the driving range and play on a course ?
It looks like we have much more strict rules in Italy. A new player, after countless hours of practice can get a status of NA when his pro signs...
I had an Eidolon 56 which was just perfect (http://www.eidolongolf.com). V-Sole, laser grooves on the face, easy to hit and great spin... then it has been stolen
I think I'm gonna buy another one soon (and maybe a 60° too)
Isn't beating them to death (or until they vanish in woods/lakes/etc.) enough? ;)
I thought sharpie signs could be removed with just a little alcohol. And if you can't remove the signs, at least you can have a drink. Cheers.
I know this guy, he's very upset 'cause during the checkout process the system showed £7.00 for shipment, and then they charged him £100. A bit unfair, huh ?
But what's even worse, they refused to stop shipment pretending they charge £20 for canceling an order.
Part of the misunderstanding...
My daughter started at 7, mainly playing on the driving range and putting green.
She started having regular lessons (in a group first, then one2one)at 8, and playing in junior tournaments at 10.
She is now 13, and her hcp is 11.9 - could be much lower if she practiced more than once a week, but...
