2nd Season as a golfist started the season on 28 finished the season at 23.2 quite happy with myself.

This close. 149 yard 6th, pitched about 6 foot shot and rolled in an inch. Gutted. But was my first ever 2 in a comp so instead of costing me a fortune it paid out the 2s pot.

We get kids roaming across the course especially during the summer holidays and occasionally a green/bunker will take a punishing. There no excuse for this and there has been much debate about the best way to limit there access to the course. I have to admit there was one occasion I couldn't...

Best course this year was Dunstanbrough Castle in Embleton. Beautiful place to play, great greens and fairways plus a castle. What more could you ask for.

Our place in South Yorkshire is a bit brown in places, the fairways are like a concrete car park bouncy bouncy. But the greens are holding up well if a little firmer than I'd like.

2 leap to mind. First was on our 173 yard par 3 6th. Hit a glorious 5 iron (if I do say so myself) which rolled and rolled closer and closer. Could it be an ace..............no it ended about an inch short of dropping. It would have been my first ace as well, never mind saved me a few quid...

I was playing on Sunday, 9 hole stapleford. Hacking my way round with a mild hangover blobs all over the place until I came to the 173yard Par 3 6th. When this happened One more roll and it'd have been my first ace. Gutted to say the least. Never mind will have another go tonight.

7 Iron for me, it's my go to club for a large range of shots. Bump n Run, chipping from the fridge, hacking out of the thick stuff oh and of course hitting it full and landing gimme range from the pin everytime (honest!!)

I played my first medal on Sat and carded an 11 on an easy 400ish yard par 4. Got to admit this thread is making me feel much better about it.

Played both Royal North Devon and Bude last month. Both really good fun and in nice nick.
