I bought an Align 6 new in about 1975 I would guess, from Bryon Hutchinson, Pro at Moortown and did very well but broke the head.
I very recently found a mint one at our local Re-use centre. £2 exchanged hands, putted with it and it 'clonked'. Probably why it was dumped, sad.Tightening the...
I saw it and didn't think he could get a stance. I might have done being a lot smaller than Westy but I couldn't have made any sort of attempt to hit the ball. It was pretty deep in.
I was brought up to play without practice swings and the club was out of the bag as you approached your ball. On your home track if you didn't know what club you needed from whatever point, you were regarded as being a bit slow on the uptake. Carrying helped and many did. However, now I'm wiser...
I collect bits and pieces relevant ot my home club, ball markers, postcards, a few single clubs, old course guides. I am lucky enough to have picked up, for next to nothing, a playing set from the 1930s from Morecambe and the Pro at the time.
Most important is that every collection should have...
As an exiled Cornishman and having played both, Saunton gets my vote. Wouldn't consider playing St Enodoc in season, course and roads mobbed with grocks.
Boris's defence will be 'You didn't mention the sign on the other side of the bus, it read 'Free Beer Tomorrow!. Nobody took that seriously so what's the problem?'
OP's coming from Milton Keynes. No hardship to go NE up the A1 via Newcastle. Play Dunbar and then scoot up the A1 to Edinburgh and then St Andrews. How difficult is that? Bet you could get to Dunbar in 5 hours and stop over if necessary.
Dunbar has some afternoon tee times @£ 60 Mon - Weds, and twilight (after 16.00) @£50. Phone first and check out website.
Great big ticket links course doing their best to cater for the genuine golfer.
I think Lee Trevino said don't practice swinging smooth, practice hitting the way you do when under pressure.
He said we're all jerking up and down on the back 9 of Trophy Day, that's what you should be working on.
Of course, you could do it like Joe Cool and pretend not to be stressed, but...
Like everything else, it depends. If I need the height a more lofted club gives and it's on the limit of that club, then I give it the beans. Otherwise I throttle back and ease it on, or try to.
Fleetwood is a great links track and an inexpensive day out. There were some stunning sets of vintage blades and some museum quality persimmon blocks on show. A couple of the guys amassed 36 points incuding our own Crow. There are short video clips on the Persimmon Golf Society's Facebook page...
Pete LLwydcoed Senior...hmm, don't know about that.
I like the ones where the forename and family name seen interchangeable, Brad Keegan would be a good one.
What happened to the 'art' of calling faster groups through. Done properly, it is almost seamless and impedes no-one. About 8 years ago I played Gullane 2 with a Swedish friend and during the course of the round we were called through 5 times as a 2 ball by 4 ball groups. Are golfers better...
