What is the incentive to reduce your handicap when the club has very few scratch competitions and members prefer to protect their handicaps to enhance their chances of appearing on the Clubs Honour Boards?
Totally agree with what you state despite my reply to your previous comment. Maybe all vets comps should be played off the yellows but we found it didn't help our handicaps when we play away matches as they don't travel that well. I am 73 and still prefer the white tees but some younger than me...
Just looked at the Cruden Bay scorecard, pars appear to be the same for whites and yellows with those playing off the whites getting a couple of extra strokes. Not a lot of difference between the two in yardage either? Always difficult to make the Vets competitions all inclusive given the...
If it is a mixed tee competition the player will be able to choose which one he plays off and in theory the different course handicaps should compensate to make it a level playing field. However you can bet your life this will cause some aggravation. Currently we are sticking to individual white...
All our tees are rated but we are only currently looking at the White and Yellow options so the handicap adjustment is in place. Wouldn't want upset the ladies.
I am the comp sec at my club for my sins and boy have I copped a lot of flack from the members trying to explain the way the new playing handicaps are calculated. It is far to complicated and even I fell foul of the new system when I entered the comp. My H/C index was 8.7 with a Course H/C of 8...
We are toying with introducing multi tee competitions for our Vets Section despite having a short course. What are the thoughts of the forum especially if you have introduced the option. How many choose to use the forward tees?
Thats disappointing given that in my experience the vast majority of players can complete their rounds without rushing within the average round time guidelines.
Agree its not a race nor a crawl but an average reasonable time should be determined as a guide for both fast and slow players to aim towards whilst respecting one and others enjoyment of the game.
Yep and we have got two par 3's in the first 4 holes and I agree that the R & A guidelines are ignored by most clubs, short sighted and frustrating. Nobody should tee off before their allocated tee time but most do if they can get away with it.
