I was able to take advantage of this when getting my new Callaway driver from the club pro. Tried the standard shaft and didn't like it, so a quick couple of minutes work gave me a Pro Launch shaft with a lower kick point - and I couldn't believe the difference it made ! I can only imagine it...

I have been carrying on with Emma, my Yes putter, for a couple of years now and would only trade her in for another, younger model !

It will probably work just as well as the 460cc driver, rescue woods, game-improving irons, distance balls and other things that we all have in our bags ... just as the title of the thread says!

OK ... now that the dust has settled, I'll chuck in my bit. We are fortunate enough to have a timeshare in Vilamoura, hence have played a fair bit of golf in the Algarve. What we have noticed is that there has been an explosion in development - especially at the Millenium/Laguna/Victoria...

Read an article in GM some time ago where some chaps had done some research about putting and found some surprisingly good results for those who, after addressing the ball, looked at the hole whilst hitting the ball. Decided to give it a go and haven't changed back.

Oops - looks like I'm in a minority here ... I have been using them for a few years now ! The main reason I use them is that they tee the ball up at the same height every time ... a useful ability on a municipal course. Orange for the driver, and blue for the three wood.

I suppose that it could be said that the mix of members and opinions on here are similar to those in many clubs - most people turn up to enjoy a game, but there are always the odd few who must win at all costs. As Homer says, let's keep it this way.

The only thing I would add would be to have a word with your pro about different shafts. Such things, or so I thought, would not make a bit of difference to my game until I was looking for a new driver - F-Speed goes well but doesn't have much roll - and I tried a Callaway. She does now. When on holiday, she would drive the buggy and hit the occasional shot, but what really got her interest was the Tiger Woods game on the Playstation; having mastered the 2004 and 2005 versions, she decided to try the real game and now thoroughly enjoys it.

I have slightly longer shafts in my irons, but only due to my height and an upright stance; Herself, on the other hand, uses normal mens clubs as ladies are too short !

The club professional! He does have the usual kit allowing all manner of wonderful statistics to be produced about your swing, which he backs up with 'OK - take that away for a few rounds and let me know how it goes' ... with the result that I now have a set of Callaway X20s and a Big Bertha...

When I hit a wayward shot I always shout - I'd rather that people were aware that a ball was heading in their general direction and it landing short than taking the 'it'll never reach them .. oops' approach. On the current topic, the only problem is that with the staff wearing their PPE they...

Have been a subscriber for a number of years now, and as the mag has been mentioning the website a fair bit recently, I thought I'd drop in for a look.

And thereby hangs the problem, as having played the new course a few times as a visitor, I reckon that it is a good three or four shots harder than the municipal due to the layout - you can't just blast away with the driver on every tee and take it from there, a certain amount of course...
