I posted a while back about my conundrum of joining a new club. Anyway, I was fortunate to be offered a place this year (i was the last one of 20 spots - despite being 53 on the waiting list. Fortunately my current club have a 1 March membership year so i hadnt paid out a lump sum yet, so i was...
i think at 5-10 someone has the ability to play scratch golf - i.e. par several holes in a row and not have physical limitations to shoot a good score. Its consistency that is the nuance between them and scratch (fyi i understand skill and technique lead to consistency!)
some good reading.
To answer a few points regarding my post:
- the Blue tees are the same as the Reds - again just back to the gender point!! (Men have Blue, Yellow and White rated, Women Red & Yellow).
- not all comps are multi tee - just the "normal" monthly medals - trophy matches, club...
After years of playing all my comps "off the whites", my new club this year operates its monthly medals as multi-tee comps, so you can choose to play off blues (red), yellow or whites, which i suppose is the whole object of the WHS system.
At my current/old club, if i had that option i probably...
yea, most proper courses do their club champs , Open etc in June/early July, a bit of maintainance in early August then get a few more Opens/Trophy matches in Sept.
i can see we have summer maintainence scheduled on 10/11/12 August, with the next comp not until 22 August
Flashy git. I bought a ball marker that is so light it could get blown away (still a fiver)
[Caveat i was actually playing and staying, played both courses, my avatar pic is the tee shot at the 9th on Ailsa)]
Muirfield does have a shop and could not see any reason why you wouldnt be able to visit and buy an overpriced polo
Just park in the garages and walk around to the shop in the main building.
Fyi as an update to this, I just got in this year.
I’ve decided for now to accept but also retain my current club, at least until this year and then make a decision. A lot of money but can change my current club to monthly DD which eases the pain somewhat
yeah got a notification this morning and just looking at that - nicely timed. Just a shame the new Callaways they have reduced arent full face ones (really like them for LW at least)
updates - ordered a PXG Sugar Daddy 54 (not brand new but was spotless). I have a new 58 degree at home that can...
anyone know any bargains going for new wedges?
Hard to reconcile current prices as got my current wedges from Callaway pre-owned 2 years ago - Jaws full face raw - brand new, 54 & 58 - for £50 each !! Hard to swallow seeing most things £100+
Dalmahoy up 3% this year. £1285 for full membership if paid in one go (£119 otherwise).
Can never complain about the value we get - two courses, driving range and book of discounts.
The flip side is how busy it gets in summer with visitors and the course condition is never much more than...
Favourites:
Justin Rose - would love him to win the Masters
Tommy Fleetwood - likewise to win the Open
Rory - no reasons required
Bob Mac (well I live in Scotland)
Tyrell Hatton - being English and good enough to compete for majors
Just missing
Scottie - just because its mental to see how good...
set of Benross Pearl irons and a TM Burner Driver - both ladies flex - for the kids who are in the awkward size between junior and mens. Came to about £150 but got £121 trade in a 5 wood and a Driver.
Hoping I can get the kids out lot more this year, especially as some of thier friends have...
