In today's rounds I hit a tee shot into the trees, then a provisional up the fairway. I found my ball in an unplayable position, with no possible place to drop. I then went back to the tee and played my third shot from there. Did I break the rules??

I need to use the driver a lot more in the winter due to white tees. That means I play my second shot from the trees more often. Although I miss fewer tiddlers on the greens, my lag putting is much worse, as the slopes are more difficult to master in the summer. Same score, different excuse!

I don't suppose it mattered anyway, as my pitch went through the green into a bunker. Good gamesmanship on his part

Are there any limitations on how u can clean a clubface during a round? I was pulled up by one of my group yesterday, bu want to confirm he was pulling my leg!

I think he is helping me build a much better swing, and don’t want to go back to my weird ways. Hopefully making the most of my better swing, by learning how to get it in the hole will make the difference. Thanks all.

How quickly would you expect to improve? I have been off 14 for 3 years, since joining my golf club. I have had a lesson nearly every month since Jan 2009, and still play off 14. Swing seems better, but shouldn’t I be a pro by now?

at my club (and this is quite common) they I’ve you a bottle of whisky, which sits on the bar for other members to help themselves. You then replace the whisky (i.e. buy it a the supermarket)

I rarely complete a round without visiting the trees several times looking for golf balls, and a couple of times to relieve myself (weak bladder??) - I make sure I’m well out of the way though, so my ball doesn’t land there next time I play. Always have a bottle of water to wash my hands...
