Do you use a different grip for Chipping (and maybe Pitching)

Yes , I change my grip for chipping and short pitches, instead of thumb right of centre ( which sends my chips to the left of where I want it to go ) I place the thumb in the centre of the grip or a little to the left side with the leading edge of the club square to target. this has come about...

    Squaring the clubface (Driving)

A mate of mine had a similar issue to yourself but his one was cured by how his feet were positioned wrongly. He tended to stand with his feet ( especially his right foot ) splayed out at about 30 degrees and this allowed him to turn a bit too much in the backswing so that in the downswing the...

Looking to join a course in Essex

Have you tried Brentwood golf course ( formerly known as Weald park ) ? They are spending a lot of money on the course and its a nice parkland type course. cranham golf course is nice and it's also very playable in winter when a lot of the other courses are a bit boggy.

Poll: how many golf lessons have you had in 2014?

I've had 2 this year, the first one was a MOT check and to help iron shots leaking to the right ( caused of all things by bad posture ) and a putting lesson. both were low tech , either off a range mat or a practice green and I went away with stuff to work on over the season. i will try and have...

    Indoor Golf

Survey done, good luck for the future The nearest thing to what you are thinking of doing around where I live is the American Top Golf driving range , which is a good format but can attract some people who like to get drunk on a Saturday night.

Good vid, lots of useful info. Its always good to get a different perspective to what creates a good or bad shot.

    Thoughts on my Swing ?

You may find that if you keep your weight on the inside of your right foot throughout the back swing, you won't sway away from the target. At the moment, your right knee appears to move outside of your body line leading to the sway. Lovely swing though, and great work getting your handicap...

So how can newbies improve their game?

When I started to take up golf I was shown what a 7 iron was down to a sand wedge and the basics of angle of attack and why the ball is constructed the way it is to make the game playable. Then I was taught the basics of the grip , stance/posture and ball position , then shown how to perform a...

    Pushing it right

The other thing you could try is to flare your leading foot out by 30 degrees, this gives your body a better chance to turn through to the target in the follow through. EYG
