If it wasn't December, I'd say get yourself to a pitch and putt etc for a go. But I would ask the pro about "the roadmap" he sees going forward.

Right now, for "full experience," so course, hospitality and facilities, a couple come to mind.
Birkdale and Muirfield. Faultless.

I tend to play my best golf on a different course to my home course.
Maybe that's because it suits my eye more, my game more and has absolutely nothing to do with the slope rating.🤣🤣🤣
