Newport lost members to Llanwern last year. There's a significant difference in quality of layout and condition (in my view). The former is £1500pa, the latter £900. If money is tight, £600 a year is not to be sneezed at.

All depends on circumstances. If money is tight, the golf subs are lower down the priorities list than eating and heating. Maybe there's a case for means testing the subs, rather than age scaling? I have seen a club in Cornwall that says if you cant afford the subs, come and talk to the...

That's an issue for lots of golfers (and clubs) My local club has reduced rates only to 30, then it goes up by £450pa. Not to be sneezed at

Got a really good deal at The Oxfordshire 18 months ago. Were well looked after too. You can get to other Oxfordshire courses from there easily enough.
