All of Region3's comment is absolute sense. Those who scoff, let them. I wish I could have worked this out during my teenage years - I'd have been a lot better player then… and, as a result, now. I can't help but think that many really talented players have this mental attitude from birth...

I wonder if more professionals hit irons off the tee back in 1991. You don't see it quite as much these days. I remember Faldo hitting a 1 iron off just about every tee in the 1990 US Open. It was harder to hit a straight drive back then, so players hit long irons. Courses are so much longer...

Nothing wrong with that at all. I've had a vision of Faldo's swing in my mind since I first started playing. Howver, like you, I have started flirting (if that's the right word) with Donald's image - particularly on chip/pitch shots. A great positive mental image - never did anyone any harm.

They should never have messed with that music. I miss beryllium Ben Hogan Special SI wedges, and the Ram Tom Watson models from the same era (late 80s/early 90s) Plus, the old fashioned Maxfli tour bags - maroon/cream colour. Wonderful.

My TaylorMade TPA putter is 20 years old - but I've had it refurbished. I also have a 1990 TaylorMade Raylor with a dynamic gold shaft. I give it hit every-so often - it's great. As the OP, I remember the days when TaylorMade Burner drivers were considered head-and-shoulders above the rest...

I'm also amazed at that stat. I thought it was a widely excepted fact that his driving wasn't 'that straight'. I suppose by comparison to the rest of his game, it's not.
