They are currently building a driving range in the middle of Bootle and because of this they will be creating a new 1st hole and a new green for the 9th. There is also a new club house being built and all this is supposed to be completed by Oct 11. In the meantime it's all a bit of a mess.

Arrived an hour early at a club i hadn't played before, after having a sandwich in the car, i got out of the car and locked the door only to see the keys still in the ignition, with my clubs, shoes etc still in the boot, with now only 1/2 an hour until my tee time.
i phoned the breakdown people...
Just for the record, Nick Dougherty, first started playing golf on a municipal in Liverpool which had bone hard greens in the summer, and very often the bunkers weren't raked.
That said, Alliss is right the golf wasn't great. I managed to catch the last 45 minutes on Thursday, and only saw 2...
Had Jimenez, Casey, Doughty, A Hanson. I estimate that this should get me about 140ish points. let down by Els & Westwood.
Looking at some of the big names that missed the cut, i'm hoping it's a low scoring week.
Played in our invitation today, struck the ball great, but i knew it was going to be a tough day, when i creamed a driver, on this 200yd par 3 and didn't make the green. Also hit driver on 2 of the 3 remaining par 3's. But the course was in great nick, and my guest really enjoyed the day, so result.

I once cut the fleshy pad of my thump on a sharp knive when doing the dishes, the day before i was going on a golfing holiday. still tried to play but the after 4 holes the cut opened up and my glove was bright red after 8.
needless to say, I don't wash dishes a week before any...
I once played in an open fourball comp, and one of the guys had put a spike in the bottom of a rubber range tee and used for the full round, consistantly hitting his drives around 280yds.

I would recommend joining and do it asap. If you join part way through the year most clubs will pro-rata the joining fees.
I don't think you would get bored playing the same course, and if you do feeling like playing other courses you could always play in inter club...
