Having a short break away this week at Piperdam near Dundee. Brought my clubs as there is an 18 hole course on site. Played it today and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. The Pro shop was friendly and let me play for £20 (absolute bargain) as I am staying in a lodge here. Nice warm day...
I’m ok if I’m playing with people I know but if playing a medal etc and I don’t know the people I’m with then the nerves and pressure kicks in. Suppose it all comes from not embarrassing yourself with playing badly.
The whole thing just comes across as very disjointed and a bit boring tbh. I love playing/watching golf but I really couldn’t care less which team wins week to week in this. Can’t see it lasting long on TV but maybe instead of Pro golfers competing it maybe be a better concept if YouTube golfers...
My bag is much the same. 11 clubs with PW and SW only as my wedges tho tbh if I am 50yds or less from the green and no bunkers in the way 9 out of 10 times I will bump and run onto the green with my 8 iron with good results
Went out for nine holes today knowing the course would be white and frozen. No snow in my part of east central Scotland but sub zero temperatures at night for what feels like two weeks now and barely hitting one or two degrees through the day. Winter greens and fairway mats but still enjoyable...
Played for the second time this week today on a cold and very frosty course. The one advantage is that I had the course to myself both days. Still playing with the 20 year old Big Bertha irons and a 20 odd year old Progen driver and 5 oversized metal wood which I decided would be my winter clubs...
Played 9 holes today using a new stand bag I bought recently hoping I could still carry the clubs round aged 56, and managed no problem. Also pulled my 20 year old Big Bertha irons out which I haven’t hit for years and they performed pretty well also.So an enjoyable day.Think I might carry for...
Think I had the craziest round of my life this morning. Had a nightmare front nine and very nearly walked in after finishing the ninth hole but decided to carry on. Started the back nine well and played a lot better, only having a poor 13th hole. Walked off the 18th green after shooting a whole...
I am going to this with my son on the Saturday also.We live only an hour away so no problem there. Does anyone know if it’s possible to drive up early and park down where all the cars park down near the beach and walk from there to the first tee,or if the road down to the beach parking will be...
I was on holiday in that area last month and paid Turnberry a visit. Walked the dog (kept on lead) down the lighthouse path from the car park, and the two courses down there looked fantastic. Then went down the beach and watched group after group of 4 balls (it was non stop) playing a par 3. The...
