Firstly my apologies for not being on the forum for ages.
Would anyone fancy joining me for an invitation at my course in Penwortham on the outskirts of Preston on the morning of Saturday 10 August as my usual partner has cried off.
Playing in an open at Windermere, first time I have played here but have been told the views are excellent. Really hoping the weather lives up to the forecast.
Das, I am a member at Penwortham and can advise on the course. It is not long but a premium is placed on accuracy as the fairways are generally tree lined and quite tight. A lot of people who have played it for the first time have had problems with reading the greens. They are all USGA greens...
Would anyone fancy joining me for the invitational at my club in Penwortham on 13 August 2011 at 10.20. My partner has gone off injured and as it is paid for I would like someone else to join me.
I think you may have been ripped off as West Ham vs Scunthorpe will not be a Championship fixture next season as Scunny got relegated to League 1. Doncaster would have been more appropriate. However, I appreciate the humorous sentiments behind the gag. :) ;)
Yes, played it quite a few times. Its not long and generally very little danger off the tee. The par 5 5th has OB to the right and a ditch all down the left. Greens are slopy but never too fast. All in all a really enjoyable course to play.
Preston and Penwortham are both fine courses although very different. As already stated Chorley is also worth playing. A little further afield (and a little more expensive) are Pleasington at Blackburn and the golf coast of Lytham to Formby.
I am a tentative for this. Not sure about work/family commitments at the moment but haven't swung a club in weeks and am getting a touch of cabin fever.
