Isn’t it the weather, hotel and all of that which you’re currently enjoying ‘what you’re there for’?
The golf is surely a nice bonus..
You could always take your winter holiday in January at a little BnB in Birkenhead - if you played Wallasey and Hoylake the golf courses would be great, but...
I haven’t been but have been to a fair few golf events (Open, Women’s Open, Seniors Open, Open Quali, BMW at Wentworth etc) - I personally think it wouldn’t be worth it.
But that’s not a knock on LIV events…I often think that any ‘Premium experience’ is really worth it IMO
What I enjoy about...
Played 9 holes today at my home course for the first time there since October - and I’ve only played golf once since then (at Thurlestone over Christmas)
Ridiculous. I played some of the best golf I’ve ever played there - probably in Top 10 of all my rounds there (been playing for 6 years, so...
I don’t really follow the politics of golf broadcasting or Tours, but surely Keith Pelley failed….in that the DPWorld / Euro Tour is far more relevant, and could be even more so, since the advent of LIV….rather than existing as a simp or lapdog for Jay and the PGA Tour, which it did when he was...
You know your course, of course you do…so I will speak ‘generally’
Any course that has a full membership and is a pretty decent or very decent course already, may not ‘need’ a new green or hole routing….(accepting that there are many courses that have holes that aren’t that good —and don’t...
If on a rainy midweek midwinters night someone wants to watch some golf, they could do a lot worse than watching the R&A YouTube channel and watch the Amateur Championship - if you go a couple of years back you’d likely not know the winner, so the fact it’s not ‘live’ wouldn’t make any...
I think there is far, far more strength in depth now than ever — way more so than the late 90s ans early 00s and certainly more than 15 years ago when Luke Donald, Westwood and Kaymer were vying for No. 1 status (which is pretty much when Rory started to dominate..)
Strongly agree that Scottie is an absolute world apart from his rivals.
I disagree Rory is above the others you mention…he also dominated for about 18 months only. Obvs one of the best this century but Scottie is The Man.
As long as they are👍🏻
Opinions are like ‘elbows’(🤣) everyone’s got them..I actually quite liked the first..nice bit of elevation gain, slight dogleg etc. I have only only played it once mind you
The ninth however…😱
Just as long as they don’t get Mackenzie and Ebert in to destroy that beautiful course by recreating the Sahara, the way they have massacred a couple of the closing holes at Ganton and Deal, that adds nothing to the way anyone would strategise playing those holes 🙄
Of course it’s a lovely place - of course it is..
Everything I had read about it appealed to me (more so even, than a number of equally famous heathland courses) - but something about the course made it definitely NOT my favourite heathland course…
Only played it the once (so I’ll have to...
