Hi Gareth
As a typical rule of thumb you should turn your hips 45 degrees around your torso. I would never reccomend you try to restrict your hip turn. Also pay attention to the axis your hips are turning on. When you turn back make sure the trail hip is turning on a steep enough angle and...
-Too much knee bend
-Big overswing means the body unwinds before the club head can catch up, net result, open club face. Try less knees then visualise starting down when your arms have swung back to a 90 degree angle in the backswing
Maybe you are pulling on the handle or throwing the arms out away from the body instead of dumping them back into the body on the downswing, do you have any early extension or hip thrust as well?
Sounds like this is maybe a temporary band aid for something that is out with your swing, maybe by moving it forwards stops you from getting trapped and flipping the club, maybe post your swing here better
1) Make sure you are not trying to scoop the ball upwards
2) Make sure you are not casting the club or flipping the club face closed, either of these sound familiar?
It would be good to see from face on, as the right leg straightens on the backswing there could definitely be a reverse pivot taking place here. I also see quite a closed club face at waist height in the backswing which could lead to a reverse pivot where she then has to lean back on the back...
Before fixing the downswing you should firstly fix your set-up. To me it looks like you need more secondary spine tilt(Tilt away from the target from face on). This, coupled with more relaxed arms at the start and throughout the downswing should go a long way to help with both weight shift...
I agree with what the others have said, firstly.....fix your reverse pivot as this will go some way in shortening the backswing as there won't be as big an imbalance at the top of the swing(ie. when your weight is on the left at the top, you can't support the club as well which contributes to an...
Looks to me like your swing is too far around the body which is why you lose height in the backswing from DTL, it also looks like you tilt to the left but hard to tell without seeing it from face on. This is why you lose height with your posture, to help you get the club down to the ball...
Go to Sivermere in Cobham(actually closer to Weybridge), they have practically every possible head/shaft combination you could want to try. Fully qualified fitters and launch monitors to track the ball, highly recomended
Grip looks a bit strong with your right hand which makes the hands appear over hinged at address and causes you to swing the club inside the plane line on your backswing, you then drop your right shoulder too much on the downswing probably to start the ball out to the right in fear of a hook...
Your left arm is definately breaking down at the top and your overswing causes you to then cast the club from the top which in turn makes you lose your lag. I would say that you need to understand where the club head should be travelling quickest in the swing, at present, you're club head is...
If you think your swing is too flat then this tip may help especially if your flat swing is caused by a tense left arm, a bit of guess work however without seeing your swing. Why don't you post it on herehttp://youtu.be/xfZRG6P-LYE
