You are likely to get a cleaner strike off a tee which may result in a bit more distance.
Is the tee slightly raised? Could get extra distance due to slope.
Fortunately there are no pay and play members, societies or hotel guests to worry about. My main concern is having to plan my weekend and the monopolising.

I think it's very important to know where the markers are measured to. Front or centre of green for example.
Makes life much easier when you know and trust your distances.
I'm about to go through this process. My practice range, grass tees, has markers at 50 100 150 etc, I've checked them on google earth for accuracy. I'll pace off from there.

Just wondering how top amateurs are able to just decide to turn pro after the Walker cup when others, with low handicaps, have to risk a lot more and give up jobs to work as an assistant pro and get qualified?
