I have found my x4 or x4 is better at getting out of heavier rough lies, my x2 is better is first cut, all really impress how they get 'through' the grass and up out....

The biggest difference is if you have clubs fitted to you, Then it can make a much bigger difference than lessons...
I agree lessons are important and if it is a difference between buying stock clubs and having some lessons its lessons anytime.

My dearest friend and i, used to play golf some 25yrs ago...each week.
The scores were very close, until he started to take lessons, at the time the surprise was that his score increased, mine slightly decreased and i regularly beat him.
However as the lessons 'kicked' in, his score dropped...
Have to say, 'Playing the good shots' but not necessarily having a low score round...
If you hitting the ball well, a good score will come, and i alsways feel positive (Or did so in the past when playing regularly).
Riding lady luck, may be fine for a round or two, but luck will not always be...
May i ask, do you generally get good height from the Tee?
If like myself you hit a lower trajectory, it may be the extra height from the hybrid has given a better carry and further distance.....
I have a shorter backswing now, and have always had trouble with a driver, although surprisingly...

It was on a CB900RRx that i had my accident, funnily enough had no such problems with my Blackbird...
And being known as 'Blade' On other forums it seemed perfect to carry it over with the golfing theme.
