Great round.
My biggest cut was by 2.4 in a round. Playing off 14 last year I went round Royal ascot in a midweek stableford (yellow tees) with 7 pars and two bogeys on the front nine and the same on the back nine.
Unfortunately, we were the last group out and our handicap secretary was waiting...
Strangely enough I've got my first lesson (for a year and a half) tomorrow. have had lessons several times over the last 6 years but too often have the lessons and just go out on the course and play, without committing to serious practice on the practice field. Inevitably I have ended up playing...
Are you sure you're holding it the right way up?
(Joking)
Sounds like you just need to spend more time practicing your putting (if your Pro says there are no major faults)
Me and Sundance have an away game at Sandmartins against a scratch golfer and an 18 handicapper. Should be interesting.
In the singles I've got a home game against a 5 handicapper
You were robbed. As already stated, any changes don't have to be initialled. Your card should be allowed to stand. Your handicap/competition secretary has blatently gone against R&A rulings on card completion.
(I happen to know them inside out now, having shot a gross 74 off a 14 handicap in a...
Had my third (of six booked) lesson on Saturday. All three have been on my swing, each one working on different areas. Am going to spend two weeks working on the points from the last lesson
1. Keeping a firmer base with my knees, instead of letting them 'collapse' on the backswing.
2. Completing...
1. Relaxing my grip more
2. Club head alignment at address (often too open)
3. A smoother and slower tempo
4. Getting a fuller shoulder turn
5. Concentrating on my belt buckle coming through to point at the target after impact
6. Trying to keep my knees more 'solid' whilst trying to do all the above
Nice one Martin
'Fraid my lessons are messing me up at the moment. Hit 4 double bogeys to come in with a net 75. Trying to arrange a playing lesson with Jamie this week. I reckon I'm gonna be struggling for a couple of months. Can't even play my 'old swing' now (because it feels so wrong) and am...
Nearly a year ago I broke the shaft on my Callaway X22 8 iron. It cost me #40 for a new shaft fitted, including a new Lampkin grip (and they polished/cleaned up the head as new too)
On Sunday I played in a match play event and started off 4 down after 4 holes. Was 5 down after 11. Was a dormey 4 after 14, dormey 2 after 16. Then on the 17th (170 yard par 3) drove to 5 foot from the hole but missed the birdie putt (both parred it for a half and for me to lose 2 and 1)...
17 of us played yesterday in our regular Sunday morning roll up. One of the guys in my 4 ball hit a lovely shot on our par three 8th. The white tees were almost up ny the yellows so it was only about 125 yards but into the wind. It pitched about 5 foot short of the hole, took one bounce and...
In Matchplay anything can happen. A month ago I played in one at my home course and was 4 down after 6 holes but managed to win 1 up. I had another a year ago and lost the first 3 holes but ended up winning 4 and 3. Just don't let the deficit pressure you in to thinking you need a load of net...
