    Other clubs near troon

Sorry missed out Barassie GC £65 weekday with lunch (April special). Located in the outskirts of Troon - like some of the others mentioned is an Open Champ Qulaifying course so again price with lunch seems very good.

    Other clubs near troon

Depending on your budget - as virtuocity says there are the 3 municipals at Troon which are all decent. I like Lochgreen the best of the 3. You have also got the 2 municipals at Ayr Belleisle approx 15 mins drive from Troon which are also good. All of these won't cost anymore than about £25 a...

The best courses you played in 2013?

I played Real Sotagrande in 1997 and absolutely loved it! Unfortunatley have never made it back. Cost £60 quid back then, hate to think what the green fees are now. My two stand out courses for this year are The Monument Course at Troon North GC Scottsdale closely followed by Quintero GC also...

    Golf Holidays

Myself and 7 of my mates treated ourselves for our 40th birthdays to 8 days golfing in Scottsdale in June this year. Played 8 of their best courses (available to visitors) including both courses at Troon North, Mickelson's courses at Grayhawk, Superstition Mountain and Boulders GC to name a few...

Anyone changing ball for the winter?

Absolutely with you on this one. Would say that characteristic of the AD333 is beneficial on fast greens. You don't usually get fast greens in the winter therefore not a winter ball. This is my least favourite of the Srixon range - i am also convinced that i'm losing distance when i've...

    Acceptance Speech - seeking advice

Firstly congratulations on your win. In regard to your acceptance my advice is do a little preperation and keep it short and to the point. Think of your speach in steps. 1. Say what an honour it is to win the Club Champ. and how delighted you are to win it for a 3rd time. 2. Thank your opponents...

Looking For A Strong 3 Wood...What do you like?

    A 10 handicapper averaging 240 yards with a 3 wood - i'd stick with what you've got mate!

    How good looking is your...

Swing Looks 6 / 10, i tend to grip the club along the palm of my left hand rather than the fingers and therefore do not get the wrist cock or classic position you see the best players getting at the top of the swing. Shot shape (when alls well) soft draw. H'cap 1.8 I'll be the first to admit...

    snide comments and accusations

It's lucky for you it's just snide remarks you're having to put up with. Personally if you'd come in with a score like that at my course i'd be tempted to give you a right good kicking. : )

West Linton GC - Good Call Guys

Asked the question a few weeks ago about where to play in the Peebles area and a few of the forumers recommended West Linton GC instead of Cadrona. Played on Saturday and was really impressed - nice condition for the time of year and the staff were very accomodating. Charged us £20 per person...

    What's your opinion

A bit harsh - it was a bit cheeky but i've read 100 times worse things said on the forum. Obviously the new forum set up discourages a bit of banter AND FREE SPEECH!!!!

    Question!

Have to be honest and say i prefer the old one. Not finding this one very user friendly. Also don't know if its just my computer but scrolling down threads (especially with a large number of posts contained) is like scrolling through quicksand. Whole thing feels slow and unresponsive at times.
