Looked it up....Craigtoun is the new name. It's a 18 hole course, fantastic inland course with great warm up facilities and clubhouse. It was previously owned by the Old Course Hotel but I imagine it will improve even further with the Links Trust taking it on.

Drumoig Do they let you book in advance on the Dukes (can't remember the new name!) now that the Links Trust have taken it on?

Also, worth emailing Scotscraig and asking if they'll do you a deal.

Leven Links is £65 per person in the afternoon, excellent course.

You don't really need them to give you the specs away, just make sure you know what they are during the fitting and remember them. You should only really need to remember the shaft, length and like angle. Just casually ask if they're not volunteering the information.....you don't need to give...

I had a look at golf.de and there are 'open' tournaments listed, but they seem to require a DGV ID so likely not open to visitors from other countries.

@Oops! I'm in Germany for a couple of weeks next summer. Are there any open competitions where anyone with a handicap can play, like we have in the UK?

It certainly looks good value. The challenge will be finding reasonably priced accommodation in Edinburgh in peak tourist season!
